Privacy Policy
Our Privacy Policy
At BootDrive, LLC., we do not exchange, transmit, or sell your data with anyone. The information that is collected (name, phone number, and address of where to install the operating system in question) is and will only be used for the use of scheduling, coordinating, and locating in-person installations with the $60 Assisted Installation package and the $70 Assisted Installation with Data Transfer package. Your IP Address will also be collected automatically by our web hosting service, Wix.com, but we do not use that information for our day-to-day operations and we will not sell that information to anyone and they store that information behind a firewall. All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by our company adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers. Your payment details and shipping and billing address will only be used to work with your payment option of choice to ensure we receive payment for services rendered and for shipping a $50 DIY Bootable USB Flash Drive if one is purchased. We will use your information, however, to send you an invoice for any products or services rendered. We will also not sell your email address or phone number to anyone. We also hold customer anonymity as one of our top priorities, so your information will not be made public. Only our staff will retain the ability to view the scheduling calendar and sales data. We do not use tracking cookies on our website and will not track your activity across other sites on the Internet. We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting to this website.
Terms and Conditions
Please view the individual terms and conditions of each product in the DIY Bootable USBs store and our online booking system's product description. Generally, for our online booking system, we require that you provide information about where you would like the installation to take place and what type of computer or laptop you want a new open-source operating system on. We reserve the right to cancel your booking if you live outside of our operational area (East Longmeadow, MA, Longmeadow, MA, Hampden, MA, Monson, MA, and Wibraham, MA). We also reserve the right to cancel your booking if your device does not meet the minimum hardware requirements for the operating system being installed. You will be notified if your booking is canceled in either situation. Currently, we are only offering to install Linux Ubuntu. Other operating systems can be requested for installation, but some time will need to be allowed for us at BootDrive, LLC. to obtain the legal approvaal to distribute it to the client. Please read the list of minimum system requirements for Linux Ubuntu here. Feel free to look up your computer's specifications on your search engine of choice (Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, Ecosia, etc.) to see if your hardware matches up to these minimum requirements. We also reserve the right to cancel your booking if the booking is deemed suspicious or dangerous in any way. During an in-person Assisted Installation, we also expect payment for the services rendered. Payment can be made in advance online if preferred. We don't accept AfterPay or Klarna. Payment in person can be done by credit card, debit card, Apple Pay, check, or cash. Please make all checks payable to BootDrive, LLC.
Our Service Level Agreement and Liability Waiver
This Agreement is between BootDrive, LLC. (the "Service Provider") and the Customer (the "Client").
1. Software-Only Service
Client acknowledges that BootDrive, LLC. is a software-only service provider. We do not perform hardware repairs. If a device is found to have hardware defects before or during the initial audit, the device will be referred to a third-party hardware repair specialist.
2. Risk of Data Loss
Client understands that the installation of a new operating system requires the erasure of all data on the primary hard drive. Unless the Client has specifically purchased the "Assisted Installation with File Transfer" service package, the Client is solely responsible for backing up all personal files, photos, and documents prior to service. BootDrive, LLC. is not liable for lost data.
3. Risk of Hardware Failure ("Bricking")
Client acknowledges that installing modern software on older, legacy hardware carries inherent risks. While very rare, the process of flashing a BIOS (updating the computer’s firmware) or installing a new Operating System can result in "bricking" (making the device non-functional) or hardware failure due to the age and condition of the components. Client assumes all risks associated with the
installation process.
4. Release of Liability
Client hereby releases, waives, and discharges BootDrive, LLC, its owners, and employees from any and all liability, claims, or demands arising out of hardware failure, data loss, or system instability following the software installation. BootDrive, LLC’s total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the service.
5. Warranty & Third-Party Software
Linux Ubuntu is a third-party product. BootDrive, LLC. does not own this software and provides no warranty, express or implied, regarding the long-term performance or compatibility of said software with the Client's hardware. If for some reason, the client's license of Ubuntu is invalidated or canceled, the client will need to refer to the Ubuntu support documentation for Ubuntu for Desktop. Ubuntu is a trademark of Canonical Limited. We are not endorsed by or affiliated with Canonical Limited or the Ubuntu project.
